Texans RB Lamar Miller Will Officially Miss 2019 Season With Torn ACL and MCL
By Michael Luciano
Coming off of his first Pro Bowl season, things were finally looking up for Houston Texans running back Lamar Miller.
His grand plans for 2019, in which he would have been the leading rusher on a Texans team picked as the favorite to win the AFC South, were brought to an immediate halt following his gruesome injury in Week 3 of the NFL preseason against the Dallas Cowboys. On Sunday, it was confirmed that the 28-year-old Miller will miss the entire 2019 season with a torn ACL and MCL.
Born in Coral Gables, Florida, Miller was a star in his back yard under Randy Shannon and Al Golden at Miami. Selected in the fourth round, 97th overall, in the 2012 draft by his hometown Dolphins, Miller went on to pile up 2,930 rushing yards in four seasons.
Three years ago, Miller signed with the Texans, and has rewarded Bill O'Brien and Houston with 2,934 yards, a 1,000 yard season in 2016, and a Pro Bowl nod in 2018, in which he rushed for 973 yards and 5 touchdowns.
The projected starter is now Duke Johnson, who is looking like a steal after the Texans traded a conditional draft pick to the Cleveland Browns for his services.
The NFL preseason has claimed yet another victim now that Miller is out for the year. Fortunately, there's every reason to believe that he'll be back.
