The Houston Texans might literally have an entirely different offensive line compared to the one we saw for the majority of the 2018 season.

After acquiring Miami Dolphins franchise left tackle Laremy Tunsil on Friday, H-Town continued overhauling their OL nearly 24 hours later. According to NFL insider Field Yates, the Texans have parted ways with former Pro Bowl tackle Matt Kalil.

The former No. 4 overall pick of the Vikings back in 2012 was cut by the Panthers early in the offseason and Houston subsequently scooped him up for much-needed OL depth.

Since his Pro-Bowl rookie season, Kalil's career has taken a profound turn for the worse, struggling with consistency as a blocker and staying on the field. He missed all of last season with Carolina due to injury, and over the last three campaigns he's appeared in just 18 games.

The USC product was projected to be Houston's starting LT, but that is (obviously) no longer the case with Tunsil's world-beating skills in town. The Texans will reportedly save as much as $5.25 million as Kalil was due a $3.25 million base salary and as much $2 mil in roster bonuses if he was active for every game in 2019.

Due to his minimal salary demands, we presume that Kalil will have a market, even if it is a modest one, as there are still a plethora of teams who could use a competent lineman on their roster.
