Texas Grand Jury is Examining Evidence From Tyler Skaggs' Overdose Death
By Michael Luciano
The concerned public might finally be close to receiving some answers as to what exactly transpired on the night former Los Angeles Angels starter Tyler Skaggs was taken away from us far too young.
A grand jury in Texas will start hearing evidence regarding Skaggs' death, and this could lead to criminal charges.
Skaggs was in the middle of his sixth season with the Angels at the time of his passing, and he was sporting a 7-7 record and a 4.29 ERA when he passed away at the age of 27.
Skaggs died from a combination of opioids and alcohol. Former Angels communications director Eric Kay, who himself had problems with substance abuse, has admitted that he provided Skaggs with the drugs, and has fully cooperated with authorities on the matter.
While an overdose did claim Skaggs' life, friends and teammates like lefty starter Andrew Heaney disputed the notion that Skaggs was dependent on drugs and struggling with addiction.
While the findings of this grand jury won't bring Skaggs back or soften the blow of his tragic passing, they might be able to give friends, loved ones, and the general public some closure and clarity as to the facts behind that fateful night in July.
