VIDEO: The Texas Rangers' New Stadium in Arlington is on Fire
By Mark Powell
Does this mean there's a new pope? On Saturday in north Texas, strange smoke was seen emanating from Globe Life Field in Arlington, which also perfectly symbolizes the Texas Rangers' mediocre offseason thus far.
Fire trucks and emergency vehicles have reportedly arrived to take care of this mess, and at the moment we have no clue what caused the incident. For the Rangers organization -- especially owners Ray Davis and Bob Simpson -- this ought to invoke panic of all sorts.
Yes, I think that may be panic-worthy!
Sheesh. While Texas attempts to sign at least one high-profile free agent to pair with Joey Gallo as the so-called faces of the franchise, even the stadium is on the mend.
Texas lost out on the Anthony Rendon sweepstakes despite some executives pinning them as the favorite to land the now-Angels third baseman entering the Winter Meetings. Rather, the Rangers merely traded outfielder Nomar Mazara, and failed to make any sort of splash to hype up a fanbase craving for some excitement.
