Thairo Estrada Got Called up to the Yankees for Literally No Reason After Gleyber Torres Update

The hard life of a minor league baseball player has never been better exemplified than by what just happened to Yankees infielder Thairo Estrada.

Estrada was ostensibly called up from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre after Gleyber Torres continued to feel symptoms in his core on Tuesday, bowing out of the Yankees' victory over the O's. However, it turns out Torres' second round of testing actually came back clean as well. What?

Therefore, Aaron Boone decided that Torres wasn't injured enough to place on the IL, so Estrada was sent right back down, despite having just entered the Yankee clubhouse.

Estrada, who hit .280 with three home runs after being brought up for depth following the injuries to Didi Gregorius and Troy Tulowitzki earlier in the season, hit well enough to earn a major league call-up in the first place, so getting sent back down immediately has to be immeasurably disappointing.

At the very least, maybe he'll get a free day trip in Baltimore? The naval yard is always nice this time of year.

This is all a matter of perspective for Estrada. He could be disappointed with the fact he won't play for the Yankees right now, or he could watch the Yankees-Orioles game in the best seats in the house before heading back down. A positive attitude is key when you're constantly being shuttled between Scranton and the bigs.
