The Jets Are an Absolute Laughingstock for Holding Out Le'Veon Bell Until Week 1
By Scott Rogust
The New York Jets spent tons of money this offseason on both sides of the ball, with perhaps their biggest get being former Pittsburgh Steelers running back Le'Veon Bell, who sat out all of last season. After joining the Jets, you'd think Bell would see at least some minimum snaps in the preseason.
Well, that's not going to be the case, as Jets head coach Adam Gase announced that Bell will be held out for the remainder of the preseason.
Just one day prior, Gase hinted that he would bench Bell up until the regular season opener against the Buffalo Bills as long as he had a great practice. As it turns out, he did.
We understand the Jets were just absolutely ripped for playing Avery Williamson, who suffered a torn ACL, too long in a preseason game, but this is a running back that hasn't seen game action against an actual opponent since the 2017 AFC Divisional Round matchup against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
You're not going to play him for ONE snap? Not only has he not played, but he's one a new team in a completely different offense!
If you look throughout the preseason, you'll point out "well, the New York Giants aren't playing Saquon Barkley." That's because he hasn't had a one-year layoff like Bell had.
Many will applaud the New York Jets and Adam Gase for the decision, but they better hope that Le'Veon Bell shows zero rust from the start of the gate.
