The Mets Thanked Jason Vargas on Twitter After Trading Him and Got Absolutely Ripped for it

The New York Mets continued to dominant the trade deadline headlines on Monday. Less than 24 hours after shocking the baseball community by dealing for Blue Jays ace Marcus Stroman, general manager Brodie Van Wagenen kept busy by trading Jason Vargas to the Philadelphia Phillies.

It goes without saying that the majority of Queens detested Vargas after his rancid 2018 campaign with the club. However, the 36-year-old responded admirably with an impressive resume three months into 2019 and became an underrated fan-favorite at Citi Field.

In truth, Vargas was a somewhat-positive storyline in an another tumultuous season and the Mets' Twitter handle elected to thank him for his services in a cringeworthy, brief highlight compilation.

19 seconds of highlights? We already know the Mets front office oozes incompetence. Now, it would appear that the club's public relations professionals have caught hold of the disease.

Don't worry though, folks. A plethora of Amazins' fans swiftly slighted the disingenuous memento.

That's easy -- because laughing is the only way to cope with the Mets' mess, @chloemets.

One particular buff dug up one of Vargas' renowned vulgar post-game interview pictures to describe the mood in Flushing.

@TSmithSports even went as low as to acknowledge that Jason delivered more laughable memes than quality starts in his nearly-two-year stint with New York.

And, per usual, some fans just opted to call it like it is, perfectly outlining the Metropolitans 2019 season.

Not only are baseball's finest insiders struggling to uncover Van Wagenen's deadline intentions, but the organization's social media account is doing its best to one-up their GM on the clown scale.

At least the Queens faithful are having fun in the midst of this shambolic rollercoaster.
