Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson Reveals Coach O Was His Mentor at Miami While Tweeting LSU Hype Clip
By Alex Coffman

Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson made his allegiance known for Monday night's CFB Championship with his hype video for LSU.
But did you know before Monday morning that The Rock is more than just a typical fan?
Johnson reminded the world, right on time, that Coach Ed Orgeron was his defensive line coach and an influential figure in his life while he played at the University of Miami. He then goes on to praise Orgeron for his wise words, which helped Johnson throughout his life.
Hype video for tonight’s NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP GAME. What many don’t know is @LSUfootball’s head coach @Coach_EdOrgeron was my defensive line coach and early mentor at University of Miami ??

He taught me a lot - lessons that I’d finally understand years later as a man. #LetsGeaux pic.twitter.com/17TUioC8wK
Who knew The Rock's entire career was inspired by major "Go Tigers!" energy?
In a profile written in Sports Illustrated three years ago, Johnson talked about his former d-line coach, too. Johnson recalled a story that stuck with him for life about Coach O keeping him accountable, saying, "I complained one time, and he got in my face and said, 'They can hold you, they can kick you in the balls, they can f---- spit in your face -- are you going to cry about it, or are you going to overcome that and make a play?' That's bigger than football, man. That's a whole worldview."
SI caught up with Orgeron, too, who had nothing but kind words about his player, whom he affectionately called "Dewey".
"Dewey was a hellava a player. I thought he had a chance to be an All-American," Orgeron said. "He had tremendous get-off, he was strong...and he worked his ass off."
LSU, led by Joe Burrow, remain favorites over the Clemson Tigers to win the National Championship. Little did LSU know, though, that they've got one of the world's biggest celebrities on their side.
