The Boston Red Sox only had four picks in the shortened 2020 MLB Draft and couldn't afford to whiff on any one of them.

The team made a surprising choice by seemingly reaching on Nick Yorke at pick No. 17 overall. The high school second baseman was ranked outside the top 100 by MLB.com, but Boston rebounded in the third round by selecting 17-year-old third baseman Blaze Jordan No. 89 overall.

Jordan is an absolute beast for his age and was top in the 2021 class before reclassifying and being drafted a year early. He won the high school home run derby during the 2019 MLB All-Star festivities and didn't seem to be nervous at all in front of a packed stadium and stars of the game.

However, Jordan is committed to Mississippi State and could choose to go to college to improve his draft stock or just to avoid joining the pros at such a tumultuous time. The Sox will have to do some serious convincing to get this kid to sign.

For the Red Sox, they snagged the No. 42-ranked prospect in the third round. He's only 17 years old, and locking him up could mean he is ready to start in the majors at the age of 20 or 21, which would be a dream scenario for both sides.
