This Absurd Yankees IL Stat Proves Team is Persevering in Astounding Fashion

The New York Yankees have been hammered by the injury bug this year, harder than any team in recent memory.

Yet through all the injuries to superstars such as Giancarlo Stanton, Aaron Judge and Luis Severino, they've found a way to not only survive, but thrive, and this absurd stat proves it.

That's right, the Yankees have actually had more players hit the injured list than they've had losses on the season.

It's truly fascinating. A team built on star power was forced to embrace a "next-man-up" mentality, and in doing so they've produced to the point that they're now just one-half game behind the Rays for first place in the AL East.

Players like Gio Urshela, Mike Tauchman and Clint Frazier have continued to exceed expectations despite playing in one of the most demanding markets in the sports world.

The baseball gods have thrown every obstacle they can muster at the Yankees, but somehow the team is still one of the best in the entire league. 17 IL stints haven't sunk the Yankees, and the organization's depth has floated the club to a 24-16 record through its first 40 games.

From starters being sidelined until after the All-Star break, to fearsome sluggers suffering from mysterious injuries and setbacks, they haven't come across a challenge that they weren't ready to tackle.

Their great start should only bolster the confidence of fans, as come the summer months, the Yankees could be fully healthy and wreaking havoc on the rest of the league. If this lineup can go 24-16, imagine what the team can achieve when its star players return to action.
