This Chargers-Jaguars Trade for Leonard Fournette Makes Sense
By Michael Luciano

The Jacksonville Jaguars have parted with just about anyone that has a pulse on their active roster (except, of course, defensive end Yannick Ngakoue, who is refusing to play for them) as they look to build for the future.
Nervous about having to pay him a good chunk of money during his second contract and eager to get more picks in the 2020 draft, the Jaguars have recently had discussions about trading running back Leonard Fournette, jacking up rumors just before the draft.
Jaguars have had trade discussions with other teams regarding RB Leonard Fournette, league sources tell ESPN. Fournette is due $4.16 million in base salary in 2020. It's a situation that bears watching as this week's draft approaches.

Even though they rewarded Austin Ekeler with a new contract, the Los Angeles Chargers should consider trading for Fournette after Melvin Gordon left for the Denver Broncos.
The Chargers, who have been best served going with a 1-2 punch at running back over the last few years, could part with a second (No. 37) and fifth-round pick in exchange for Fournette, as one of those picks would have likely been used on a backup running back.
In this deal, Jacksonville gets more picks for the rebuild while getting rid of a player who could demand a lot of money in his second contract, while the Chargers add a potential bell cow for whomever is under center.
Leonard Fournette has been a solid RB up to this point in his career.

He is:
-The 10th RB all-time to produce 1100+ rush yards and 75+ rec within their first three seasons in the league.
-Already has two RB1 seasons to his name.

Jaguars fans have to be sick of the constant turnover Dave Caldwell is forcing upon this roster, but the tank job is just starting to kick into high gear, and that desire to get a high pick next year could force Fournette to play in LA next season.
