This Dolphins-Bengals Trade Could Actually Net Miami Joe Burrow
By Michael Luciano
The Cincinnati Bengals are holders of the No. 1 pick in the 2020 NFL draft, and anyone with half a brain can figure out that they have their eyes set on picking LSU quarterback Joe Burrow.
The Miami Dolphins and their armada of premium picks, however, have a master plan to steal Burrow away from Cincinnati, as they are reportedly trying to move up to No. 1 overall in the draft and select the former Bayou Bengal.
The Dolphins currently own pick No. 5 in the draft, as well as picks No. 18 and No. 26, acquired in the Minkah Fitzpatrick and Laremy Tunsil trades. Those three picks would all have to go to Cincinnati.
One of Miami's two second-round picks would have to be headed to the Bengals as well. Throw in a pick from the 2021 draft, and you've got yourself a deal. While this seems like a lot to move up four spots in the draft, the gulf in talent between pick No. 1 and pick No. 5 has proven to be cavernous over the years, and anything less than a king's ransom headed to Cincinnati should be unacceptable.
While Mike Brown might be forced out of the City of Cincinnati via angry mob if he makes this deal, Miami giving away their surplus of picks in order to secure the rights to Burrow (who may not be set on joining the Bengals) could turn the entire AFC East upside down. If Cincinnati says yes, Miami could grab their next franchise quarterback.
