This Falcons-Browns Draft Day Trade Could Land Atlanta Javon Kinlaw
By Michael Luciano
Many think that Auburn's Derrick Brown is the best defensive tackle in the 2020 NFL Draft, but South Carolina's Javon Kinlaw, who dominated at the Senior Bowl, is right there with him.
Given their holes on defense, especially on the D-Line, the Atlanta Falcons could look to confirm rumors and move up from pick No. 16 in the draft to take their guy. GM Thomas Dimitroff has a history of trading up in the draft, after all.
The Cleveland Browns could be a trade partner for the Falcons, as they hold the No. 10 pick in the draft, but could trade down and stockpile picks to help plug up holes on the offensive line.
The Falcons would need to surrender the No. 16 overall pick, as well as their third-round pick in this draft, if they want to move up and select the toolsy interior rusher.
Kinlaw explodes off the line of scrimmage, and has the upper body strength and athleticism to handle 1 or 3 tech responsibilities. Dan Quinn would have a really fun time moving him all along the Falcons' defensive line.
Kinlaw success in his first few years in the league will depend on what scheme he goes to, as he needs to match with a defensive coordinator who will put him in positions that maximize his natural athletic ability. Should they trade up, Atlanta can provide just that.
