This Lions-Redskins Trade for Adrian Peterson Would Ruin Vikings Fans' Lives
The Washington Redskins have a surplus of talent at the running back position. The team has six running backs under contract after adding both Peyton Barber and J.D. McKissic this offseason.
Adrian Peterson is the featured player of the bunch and also makes the most money. He is set to earn $3.25 million in the final year of his deal in 2020. That sets up the 35-year-old as a prime trade candidate. One trade possibility that would impact several teams is Peterson being sent to the Detroit Lions in exchange for a fifth-round pick.
Such a trade would be great for the Lions. The team can get help for Kerryon Johnson and acquire a running back who had 898 rushing yards last season. Johnson led the Lions with a measly 403 yards in 2019.
This trade would also ruin the lives of Minnesota Vikings fans. The Vikings would have to face Peterson at least twice in 2020 and fans who didn't want him to leave in the first place would be driven crazy if he had any lasting success in a rival's uniform.
The running back spent 10 years with the Vikings after being taken No. 7 overall in the 2007 draft. He left after an injury-shortened 2016 season and signed with the New Orleans Saints, thus ending a great reign for the seven-time Pro Bowler and 2012 MVP in Minneapolis.
Seeing Peterson in another uniform is already difficult for some Vikings fans. Seeing him back in the NFC North may be too much for some.
