This Redskins-Bengals Trade Involving Joe Mixon and Trent Williams Could Actually Work

The Washington Redskins have a disgruntled left tackle on their hands in Trent Williams who is refusing to play for the team, and the Cincinnati Bengals have a budding star running back in Joe Mixon who is now considering holding out in search of a new contract.

The two teams could solve both of their respective holdouts by starting to get a trade proposal whipped up that sends Williams to southeast Ohio and Mixon to the nation's capital.

The two players could conceivably be traded for each other straight up, but the Redskins would likely need to surrender a third-round pick, as they are adding a younger player who would be expected to serve as the focal point of their offense. Additionally, Williams has already functionally counted himself out of Washington's plans, and any team dealing with them knows that relationship is already poisoned.

While Dwayne Haskins is going to love Mixon's ability to elude between the tackles and catch passes out of the backfield, projected No. 1 pick Joe Burrow will arrive to a revamped offensive line that includes a seven-time Pro Bowler in Williams and a former first-round pick in Jonah Williams.

Burrow is going to need a solid offensive line, and he'll get that thanks to a pair of rock-solid Williamses. If Trent returns to the Pro Bowl form he showed in Washington and Jonah plays like he did at Alabama, Burrow could have all day to throw in that pocket. The Redskins, meanwhile, would get Haskins a bell cow in Mixon who could eat up around 300 touches.
