This Undrafted Free Agent is Guaranteed to Make the Cowboys
By Jerry Trotta
The annual flood of undrafted free agent signings returned in a big way following the 2020 NFL Draft. Historically, the Dallas Cowboys have done quite well in this department. Fans will remember them inking quarterback Tony Romo to an agreement following the 2003 showcase.
In terms of value, the Cowboys couldn't have drafted much better, with this year's class highlighted by Oklahoma wide receiver CeeDee Lamb and Alabama cornerback Trevon Diggs. The franchise continued adding talent in the form of players -- 15 to be exact -- who weren't fortunate enough to hear their names called.
If we had to single out one that's a virtual lock to make Dallas' final roster, it's Texas Tech offensive lineman Terence Steele.
The Cowboys offensive line that will have to move forward without All-Pro center Travis Frederick, who surprisingly retired this offseason. That means Dallas will need all hands on deck up front, and the resume that Steele put together across his career in Lubbock suggests he has a great chance to make the team.
At 6-6 and 312 pounds, Steele is a mountain of a man. He started 47 of a possible 49 games in his four seasons at TTU, and was the anchor of a Red Raiders unit that conceded just 18 sacks in 531 pass attempts, which was good for top-25 in the country. As a junior, Steele was selected as an All-Big 12 honorable mention by conference coaches. In 2020, he was chosen to participate in the Senior Bowl.
Couple those feats with the fact that Steele has experience at both tackle positions, and you'll come to the realization that he'll claim a roster spot following the preseason.
