Thunder Have Most Insane Draft Pick Haul Ever After Paul George and Russell Westbrook Deals
By Max Scoli

Over the past decade, the Oklahoma City Thunder have seen several big name stars come and go, including Russell Westbrook, Kevin Durant, James Harden, Paul George, and Victor Oladipo. Yet, they still have one thing to show for all this calculated misfortune: draft picks.
Through the George and Westbrook trades, the Thunder have geared up for the future, acquiring the rights to eight first-round picks in addition to their own, along with some other draft day benefits. So many that Woj himself forgot about one!
I left out Thunder's Jerami Grant deal with Denver: OKC has acquired EIGHT first-round picks since draft night: 2020: Denver (1-10), 2021: Miami; 2022: LAC; 2023: Miami (1-14), 2024: LAC; 2024: Houston (1-14); 2026: LAC; 2026: Houston (1-4).

While these trades have ultimately removed Oklahoma City from playoff contention in the star-studded Western Conference, this was the right move by the organization and something that should have been done a long time ago.
The Thunder should have blown up their roster the second that Kevin Durant left, but instead wasted several years being mediocre and accruing no assets to rebuild.

2020 Own (1-20)
2020 DEN (11-30)
2021 Own (HOU 5-30 swap right)
2021 MIA (HOU 5-30 swap right)
2022 Own (1-14)
2022 LAC
2023 Own (LAC swap right)
2023 MIA (15-30)
2024 Own
2024 LAC
2024 HOU (5-30)
2025 Own (LAC and HOU 21-30 swap right)
2026 Own
2026 LAC
2026 HOU (5-30)
Now, the organization can move on from the superstar talents that got them nowhere, and look forward to the potential prospects they can nab with their newly-found wealth of draft selections.
Seriously. This is unprecedented. Well done, OKC.
