Tigers Are So Bad They're the Literal Opposite of the 114-Win 1998 Yankees
By Chris Pyo

The 1998 New York Yankees are considered by many to be one of the greatest MLB teams in the history of the game.
The 2019 Detroit Tigers? Well, not so much.
While the '98 Yanks posted a dominant 114-48 regular season record and swept the San Diego Padres to become World Series champions, the '19 Tigers are languishing in the bottom of the AL Central with an absolutely pitiful 45-107 record. Gross.
Per Buster Olney, both teams can be linked to each other through one notable statistic.
The 1998 Yankees, perhaps the best team ever, had a run differential of +309.

The 2019 Tigers have a run differential of -306.
Wow. Goes to show the stark contrast between one of baseball's historically best teams and one of the worst. That Tigers run differential would give any hardcore fans shivers down their spines.
Also, the '98 Yankees definitely did not lose 16 straight games to a single team, unlike the Tigers this year.
The Detroit Tigers have lost 16 in a row to the Indians.

The Detroit Tigers are embarrassing.
The Detroit Tigers are not fun to watch.
Oh boy, that's embarrassing. While many fans are quick to say something along the lines of "Hey, there's always next year," I'm unsure if I could say that about the Detroit Tigers.

Not all was lost for the Tigers, though. At least they posted a better record than their 2003 counterparts!
