Tigers Breakout Pitching Prospect Tarik Skubal is Putting Up Video Game-type Numbers
By Parker White

Casey Mize, Matt Manning and Franklin Perez get all the attention for being the Detroit Tigers' top three pitching prospects, and for good reason.
However, sometimes it's the guy you don't think about or notice who is the best of the litter, and so far in 2019 there isn't a pitcher in the Tigers system who is hotter or more dominant then left-hander Tarik Skubal.
Hard to find a pitcher in professional baseball hotter than Tarik Skubal. Over his last seven starts between @LkdFlyingTigers and @erie_seawolves, the @tigers No. 17 prospect has posted:

0.68 ERA (40.0IP/3ER)

In 17 minor league starts this season, Skubal owns a 2.39 ERA and 0.97 WHIP with 118 strikeouts over 90.1 innings. He's been even better since being called up to Double-A, posting a microscopic 0.90 ERA with 21 strikeouts over 10 innings.
You read those numbers correctly. I wasn't copying personal numbers from MLB The Show.
Skubal hasn't allowed more than one earned run in a game over that span, and with tonight's outing has now punched out at least 10 batters in each of his first two AA starts since being promoted.

The former ninth-round pick in the 2018 MLB Draft is proving everyone wrong and showing he has the stuff to get outs in the big leagues, as well as being someone the Tigers can look forward to placing in their starting rotation of the future.
