Tigers End Detroit's National Nightmare and Finally End Losing Streak Against Mets
By Seth Carlson
Detroit hasn't done much right in sports recently. The Lions and Red Wings missed the playoffs in football and hockey, respectively. The Pistons made the playoffs as the 8th seed in a top heavy Eastern conference, but proceeded to get swept in four games by Giannis' Bucks.
That left the Detroit sports scene in the hands of the MLB's Detroit Tigers. Well, that didn't work out so well for the past week, as the Tigers lost nine in a row including a sweep by the lowly Marlins on Thursday. Detroit's misery might have ended temporarily, though, with a 9-8 win over the Mets Friday night.
I'll bet this was one of the more fun tweets Fox Sports Detroit has sent out recently after not having much to cheer about when it comes to Motor City sports in 2019.
The Tigers are in the midst of a long rebuild with no definitive plan for the future as they attempt to sort through their major and minor league talent. The process could take a while, but at least they still have Miguel Cabrera, one of the greatest pure hitters in MLB history.
If Miggy keeps raking, they'll definitely be able to sell some tickets and convince what's left of Detroit's fanbase to come out to Comerica Park.
