Sadly, with more recent news of the situation, Numata was found unresponsive with a head injury around 2:15 a.m. Friday morning. He is still in the hospital with no further updates on his current state.
Prayers to @erie_seawolves catcher Chace Numata as police found him unresponsive with a head injury late last night from a skateboard injury. He is in the hospital. Really hoping he's OK as Chace is a great guy. #tigers https://t.co/4KgOpkBmz6

According to Erie police Captain Rick Lorah, when looking at surveillance video from that area, it showed Numata traveling down the street on his skateboard when he fell down, with no vehicles involved in the incident.
Numata, 27, has been with a couple other organizations before landing with the Tigers, including the Philadelphia Phillies and New York Yankees. This is his first year in the Tigers system, and in 77 games between Double-A and Triple-A, Numata has slashed .244/.296/.354 with four home runs and 28 RBI.
This is a scary situation for Numata and his family. We'll have to wait for further updates on his condition.
