Tigers Respond to Discrimination Lawsuit Levied Against Former Coach Chris Bosio
By Ryan Giglio

It seems that racially driven incidents are occurring more often in 2019. Maybe it's society as a whole, maybe it's social media, or maybe something else.
No matter what the cause, racism and bigotry have no place in 2019.
The Detroit Tigers seemingly agree with that, evidenced by their firing of former pitching coach Chris Bosio last June. The firing came after Bosio was accused of directing insensitive comments, including racial slurs, to a team employee.
Chris Bosio & #Tigers are being named in a lawsuit in which a former clubhouse attendant is accusing the organization of subjecting him to a 'racially hostile environment'. This included Bosio telling the plaintiff that he would 'skin him the fuck alive'. https://t.co/T7iLpMem62

The Tigers responded to a discrimination lawsuit filed by the former clubhouse attendant, Derrell Coleman II. In the lawsuit, the Tigers are painted as an organization in which racism and discrimination is prevalent.
On Friday, the Tigers released a statement responding to the lawsuit and its allegations. Detroit refutes the lawsuit's claims and says it has a "zero tolerance policy for inappropriate behavior and workplace harassment."

Bosio was initially fired last June after a 48-hour investigation into an incident detailed in the complaint as a racial slur toward Coleman. In the initial club announcement regarding the firing, the Tigers cited Bosio's firing was due to "his insensitive comments that violated Club policy and his Uniform Employee Contract."
