Tim Tebow and Former Miss Universe Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters Got Married in South Africa
By Ian Anderson
The man who was once at the center of the sports universe and a former Miss Universe got married in South Africa this past weekend.
Former NFL quarterback and current New York Mets minor leaguer Tim Tebow and model Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters tied the knot at a La Paris Estate in Cape Town, South Africa, the bride's native country.
After being engaged for just over a year, the pair were joined in holy matrimony. Coming up next is the honeymoon, with Tebow needing to head back to New York to prepare for the new baseball season soon after.
Tebow, a Heisman Trophy winner and two-time national champion as a quarterback at the University of Florida, has spent four seasons with the Mets organization. The 32-year old has yet to make an MLB appearance, but has been a major draw for fans during his time in the lower levels.
His wife, of course, is as big league as it gets. Just the second South African to win Miss Universe, Nel-Peters was crowned in 2017 at the age of 22.
Whether or not Tim Tebow ever realizes his dreams of making it to The Show cannot yet be known. But no matter what, we can tell you right now what the highlight of his year will end up being.
