Tim Tebow Leading Triple-A All-Star Voting Despite His Atrocious Season
By Seth Carlson
It's certainly not due to his play on the field, but Mets' minor league outfielder Tim Tim Tebow has a firm grip on the Triple-A All-Star Game votes leaderboard.
Despite hitting just .155 through 46 games, the former Broncos quarterback is racking up All-Star votes. His popularity continues to dictate his baseball career, as it was revealed he was the seventh-leading vote-getter in all of Triple-A.
The former Heisman winner played at Double-A Binghamton in the Mets organization last year, hitting over .270 and leading some to speculate he could have received a call up to the big league roster in the wake of another lost season in 2018 for the Amazins'.
However, he broke his wrist after getting hit by a pitch and quickly shut the door on any opportunity there was to make a brief big league cameo.
This year, he has not earned that chance based on early performance, let alone a legitimate spot at an All-Star game, yet there he sits, among the top performers in the minors, reeling in votes with ease.
Tebow would probably be the first to tell you he doesn't deserve a spot on the roster, but fame carries significant weight, and Tebow fans are doing their best to give their guy a ticket to the All-Star game.
