Tim Tebow to Play for Team Philippines in World Baseball Classic Qualifier
By Brady Williams

Former Florida Gator, Denver Bronco, New York Jet, Scottsdale Scorpion, Columbia Firefly, St. Lucie Met, Binghamton Rumble Pony, and current Syracuse Met Tim Tebow will add a new team to his ever-growing list. The World Baseball Classic reported on Twitter Wednesday afternoon that the 32-year-old will be participating with Team Philippines.
Tebow qualifies for the team as he was born in Makati City while his parents were on a Baptist missionary trip.

The World Baseball Classic allows for players to play for countries in which they were born, are citizens, allowed by the WBC under special permission, or if their parents were citizens, naturalized or otherwise. Tebow looks to be a big name for Team Philippines, especially since the Philippines are among the four teams that are brand new to the Classic.
The announcement comes a day after Tebow nailed his first home run in Spring Training.

With a little momentum, and the usual media rush that follows Tebow wherever he goes, it could be a major PR move for a new team in an event that only rolls around every couple of years.
