Titans Bench Marcus Mariota for Ryan Tannehill Against Broncos
By Adam Weinrib
The Titans swore they wouldn't make the move to Ryan Tannehill unless it was permanent.
So, uh, it seems they'll have plenty of questions to answer in the wake of Sunday's impressively boring disaster against the Denver Broncos.
After being shut out all the way through the end of the third quarter, Marcus Mariota found his way to the bench in favor of Tannehill, who wasn't the solution in Miami, and likely isn't in Nashville, either.
Mariota, in his fifth year ahead of free agency, has proven in a much duller way the same thing Jameis Winston has: the current incarnation of the former Ducks signal caller is not a viable NFL quarterback. Though there are flashes of a patient and unspectacular offense, we've rarely seen the type of big plays and astounding athleticism Mariota displayed during his college days (of course, it doesn't help that he's rarely been healthy).
So, will the Titans live up to their word? Is this it for Mariota?
