Titans Stealing College Scouting Director is Latest Speedbump in Brutal Patriots Offseason
By Scott Rogust
The New England Patriots are used to some turnover at the end of each season. But 2020 was brutal for the Pats, as they lost supreme talents like Kyle Van Noy and Tom Brady. Things only got worse for New England on Monday.
According to Sports Illustrated's Albert Breer, Patriots College Scouting Director Monti Ossenfort is joining the Tennessee Titans as their new Director of Player Personnel.
What a kick below the belt to Robert Kraft and Bill Belichick. Still, they shouldn't be too surprised, considering Ossenfort's contract with the organization was expiring. Additionally, Ossenfort has interviewed for the Cleveland Browns general manager job this offseason.
Ossenfort had been with the organization for the past 15 years, where he started off as an area scout in 2006, before being promoted to College Scouting Director in 2014. The Patriots have always been credited as one of the better drafting teams in the league, and that's all thanks to Ossenfort, who played a significant role in the team winning four Super Bowls.
Now Ossenfort joins the Titans, a team which are coming off an improbable run to the AFC Championship Game this past season. He'll be right at home, since there are plenty of people with New England ties in the organization (i.e. head coach Mike Vrabel and general manager Jon Robinson).
As for the Patriots, their nightmarish offseason only continues, with no end in sight.
