Titans Reportedly Not Chasing Tom Brady and Are Determined to Re-Sign Ryan Tannehill
By Michael Luciano
Very rarely is one of the best players in NFL history allowed to test the open market in free agency, but that's exactly what's happened with New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady. If he has his heart set on leaving New England, one of the more desirable destinations isn't interested in him.
Despite having Brady's former teammate Mike Vrabel as head coach, the Tennessee Titans are out of the Tom Brady sweepstakes. Instead of signing TB12, the Titans are trying to bring back breakout star Ryan Tannehill.
Imagine typing that tweet a year ago.
A former QB1 with the Miami Dolphins, Tannehill started 10 regular season games with the Titans, winning seven. He led the NFL in yards per attempt, yards per completion, and passer rating while completing 70 percent of his passes and throwing 22 touchdowns. While Derrick Henry did most of the heavy lifting in the playoffs, Tannehill helped the Titans to wins over Brady's Patriots and Lamar Jackson's Baltimore Ravens on the road.
Fresh off the best year of his pro career in Arthur Smith's offense, Tennessee seems like the most likely landing spot for Tannehill for 2020 and beyond.
Rather than hitch their wagon to Brady for what would at most be two more seasons, Tennessee is looking to sign the younger player with a higher ceiling after the best season in his career. That's a very New England-esque approach from Titans GM and former Patriots executive Jon Robinson.
