Todd Gurley Contract Details With Falcons a Clear Win-Win Thanks to Rams
By Mark Powell
The Rams let Todd Gurley go to avoid paying tens of millions to a player they couldn't count on to stay healthy. It made sense, but pointed to how irrational their contract extension with the Georgia product was in the first place.
While Gurley lost out on significant money thanks to the Rams decision, LA is still paying him, allowing the 25-year-old to take a lesser offer from the Falcons as a result.
This is a win for everyone involved except Los Angeles.
Gurley gets to play closer to home and have a significant role in one of the most talented offenses in the NFL. The Falcons add a top RB after letting Devonta Freeman walk for cheap, meaning they can make even further moves to ideally bounce back after a disappointing 2019 season.
Gurley will be a fan favorite in Atlanta, and thanks to a talented backfield won't be as overused as he was in his first few years as a Ram.
