VIDEO: Tom Brady Owns Cowboys With Painful 'Bowl 96' Audible at Line of Scrimmage
By Michael Luciano
Tom Brady was feeling pretty confident during the New England Patriots' nail-biting 13-9 win over Dak Prescott and the Dallas Cowboys, and the former 49ers fan who grew up in the crucible of the San Francisco-Dallas rivalry in the 80s and 90s worked in a savage troll at the Dallas defense. One of Brady's audibles at the line of scrimmage was "Bowl 96", which is a jab at the Cowboys' lack of success in recent years.
Brady is referring to Super Bowl XXX in 1996, when a Barry Switzer-led Cowboys team defeated the Steelers as Pittsburgh quarterback Neil O'Donnell threw two of the most inexcusably bad interceptions in NFL history. That game was the last time that the Cowboys appeared in or won a Super Bowl.
Brady needed to at least win this game if he didn't have a great statistical performance, and he did just that, further extending Jason Garrett's poor record against winning teams.
When you've won six Super Bowls of your own, you get the right to make such comments.
