Tom Brady Sends Farewell Message to Patriots in The Players' Tribune and Doesn't Bother to Thank Bill Belichick
By Michael Luciano
Tom Brady's departure for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers stunned the New England Patriots and their fans, and the weeks which have passed since have done little to soften the blow. Brady himself officially said goodbye to New England, and he gave them words of encouragement as they face this new, unfamiliar era without him.
Brady posted a lengthy article in The Players' Tribune that was meant to comfort fans and teammates as they begin the post-TB12 era. Brady also asserted all Patriots fans can do at this moment is put his departure in the past and move ahead.
Brady also thanked his teammates, the organization, and the fanbase for taking a chance on an unathletic kid from San Mateo and helping him become one of the greatest players in football history.
One person that Brady noticeably did not mention by name was head coach Bill Belichick. Despite 20 years under the Belichick regime, Brady didn't have a nice thing to say about him. Friction between the two is often cited as a major reason why Brady left.
No matter what goes down in Tampa Bay, Brady will always be revered in New England for the two decades of success he brought that franchise. While he went pretty light on the Belichick praise, you can tell that Brady clearly struggled with the decision to leave his teammates and the devout Patriots fanbase.
