Tom Brady's Father Opens up About QB's Relationship With Bill Belichick After Departure From Patriots
In the Boston area, and all of Massachusetts for that matter, Patriots fans remain stunned Tom Brady won't be donning a New England jersey next season. The pain is still there knowing he'll instead be suiting up for Bruce Arians and the Buccaneers after inking a two-year deal.
While countless folks out there have speculated Brady was ready to leave town due to his relationship with Bill Belichick, that couldn't be further from the truth. Brady's father made that much clear in a recent podcast hosted by Dell and Sonya Curry, Steph Curry's parents.
"Bill's got a lot of responsibilities to keep the Patriots on track and that's a bigger responsibility than keeping Tommy under the hood," Brady's dad said via 247Sports. "So, both of them are mature individuals and I really respect Bill's decision and respect Tommy's decision as well. It's okay to take different paths. You don't have to stay joined at the hip."
TB12 spent 20 glorious years with the Patriots, throwing for nearly 75,000 yards and adding 541 touchdown passes. Oh, he also led New England to nine Super Bowls, winning six of them. He's got four Super Bowl MVPs and three NFL MVPs to his name, too.
"I mean, I can't tell you the hundreds of times that Tommy has said Bill is the best coach in football," Brady's dad added via 247. "Tommy sings Bill's praises."
While rumors in recent years suggested there was some growing animosity between the two, Brady and Belichick have nothing but great admiration for one another. Long after they've both retired from the NFL, they'll go down as one of the best player-coach combos in all sports -- no doubt about that.
