By Max Scoli

After stunning news broke that Red Sox legend David Ortiz had been shot in what witnesses were calling an assassination attempt, New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady took to Twitter to express his admiration for the strength and courage of his fellow Boston star.
TB12 and Ortiz are staples of Boston sports, so it's only fitting the Patriots QB sent his well wishes.

The 10-time MLB All-Star is now in stable condition as he prepares to recover from this horrendous event. His bullet wound was a lot more serious than everyone initially thought, as it took lengthy surgery to save the slugger's life.
Translation: “David Ortiz’s surgery was six hours, not two like his father said. It’s been confirmed to us that part of his intestines, colon and gallbladder were removed. He’s in the ICU, stable and recovering” https://t.co/EtJzxYFgD4

Ortiz won the Roberto Clemente Award in 2011, which is given to the individual who best exemplifies exceptional performance, sportsmanship, and community involvement. He set a tremendous example on and off the field, so this happening to him was a complete shock.
Ortiz has gotten an outpour of support with the latest coming from another Boston legend. Let's hope all this positive energy helps the big man recovery as fast as possible.
