VIDEO: Tom Brady Surprising an Elementary School in 2004 is Amazing
By Dylan McCaffrey
Tom Brady's career with the New England Patriots is over, but his contributions to the Massachusetts area will be remembered for a long time. Back in 2004, Brady made a surprise appearance, accompanying Patriots wide receiver Bethel Johnson to a local elementary school in Seekonk, MA even though the kids thought only Johnson would be showing up. The results were amazing.
Johnson, a footnote Patriots wide receiver from their dynasty days, was scheduled to visit the school with Jacob Taylor, a student at North Elementary School. Johnson spent time with the children, as he talked to them about the importance of school and going to class, but the surprises didn't stop there for the unsuspecting kids.
Johnson and Taylor brought along another friend as well, as the student walked in holding Tom Brady's hand. Brady was met with rabid applause by the children, and he hilariously reacted to a student saying their favorite team was the New York Jets.
The Patriots team that featured Brady and Johnson was coming off of a Super Bowl victory in the 2003-04 season. Their star QB, Brady, was the Super Bowl MVP, after throwing for 354 yards and three touchdowns.
The Patriots would go on to win another one in the 2004-05 season, most likely inspired by Jacob Taylor and the kids of Massachusetts (a little bit, at least).
