Tom Herman and College Coaches Upset About COVID-19 Restrictions Just Don't Get it
By Jerry Trotta
Over the weekend, the Big 12 announced new policies and guidelines for student-athletes to follow during the coronavirus pandemic. In short, the conference basically implemented further restrictions that limit the access and interactions that coaches can have with their players.
Taking into consideration the current condition of the United States -- cases and deaths related to COVID-19 continue to increase exponentially each day -- it seems likely that no coach made a fuss about the news, right?
Wrong. Texas Longhorns boss Tom Herman claims that he, along with other Big 12 coaches, aren't thrilled with the fact that they can't properly equip players for workouts.
Are we serious right now?
Preaching the severity of the coronavirus is getting redundant, but Herman's claims prove that it's still necessary.
It's just befuddling how there are some folks, let alone those of Herman's stature, complaining about new stipulations being instilled by governors, who are as informed as can be thanks to our hard-working medical professionals.
There's a reason that Kirk Herbstreit believes that the 2020 college football season won't start on time: things haven't gotten better, and they will continue to get worse.
Attitudes like Herman's are exactly what the world doesn't need right now. Every second spent thinking like is a second wasted. We get (and semi-respect) how much he adores football, but his complaints are out of line.
In fact, they further prove that Texas football is NOT back.
