Tom Herman and Sam Ehlinger's Message to Longhorns Fans Isn't Good Enough
By Jerry Trotta

Now that their 2019 regular season is officially in the books, it's fair to assert that the Texas Longhorns football program is, in fact, NOT back.
Tom Herman's squad defeated Texas Tech 49-24 on Friday to finish a disappointing campaign with a 7-5 record. You would expect that, despite a win, the Longhorns leader, Sam Ehlinger, would feel indifferent with how the season unfolded.
Unfortunately for fans in Austin, Ehlinger was staggeringly optimistic when asked to summarize the 2019 campaign.
Sam Ehlinger on Texas at 7-5: "Rome wasn't built in a day. If you had told Texas fans three years ago that we would have seven wins and headed to a bowl game and had a chance to win eight, I think people would be pretty happy ... Overall, we did a great job." #HookEm

This simply isn't good enough, and we were significantly close to tabbing that assessment as laughable. Are these really the standards that college football pundits and fans should have for Texas, one of the most storied programs in CFB history?
Absolutely not.
We're not asking that Ehlinger be all doom and gloom after a dub, but to be as encouraged as he is with a 7-5 record is a testament to the Longhorns' shortcoming in recent years.
Tom Herman on today's win and what it means: "We’re going to be OK. Things are still headed in the right direction." #HookEm

Let's keep in mind that this Texas squad narrowly escaped Kansas, the current Big 12 bottom-feeders with a 3-8 record, a few weekends ago.
Congratulations on today's win over the 4-8 Red Raiders. Let's throw a party!
