Tony Grossi's Reaction to Being Suspended for Baker Mayfield Comment is Unfortunately Hilarious
By Michael Luciano
Tony Grossi is no stranger to getting Cleveland Browns Twitter fired up for all the wrong reasons with his mouth, and his latest escapade is at or near the top of his list in terms how embarrassing it is.
Grossi was caught on a hot mic calling Browns quarterback Baker Mayfield a "f---ing midget", which prompted immediate social media backlash. ESPN Cleveland, Grossi's employer, has since suspended him after his comments. Grossi was apparently shaken by this news, as he bolted out of an NFL Combine press conference upon getting word. He ended up missing Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski and GM Andrew Berry at the podium.
If we're being totally honest...this is kind of funny.
This is a controversial guy who remarked that hiring Stefanski as Browns head coach would go down well "in the ethnic neighborhoods" just a few months ago, so this isn't exactly Mother Teresa that ESPN Cleveland is suspending.
ESPN's statement takes aim at the language Grossi used to describe Baker, calling it "derogatory" and claiming that it "demeans others or groups of people."
Eventually, ESPN is going to get fed up with having to constantly babysit Grossi and worry about what this loose cannon is going to say or tweet next. His latest comments were predictably ripped apart by Browns fans and non-Browns fans alike, as Grossi's mouth landed him in boiling hot water once again.
