By Daniel Lubofsky
After finishing off last season with a trip to the Final Four, the Michigan State Spartans are currently the odds-on favorites to take home the NCAA men's basketball national championship in 2020.
The Westgate Superbook recently updated its odds for the 2019-20 collegiate basketball season, giving the reigning Big Ten champions 6-1 odds to win their first national championship since 2000 and the third in school history.
Tom Izzo's Spartans will see a number of upperclassmen run it back from last season's 32-7 team, including star point guard Cassius Winston, who chose to forgo the 2019 NBA Draft to complete his senior season. He was a crucial element of Michigan State's success last year, averaging 18.8 points and 7.5 assists per game.
Other notable schools on the list are Duke and Kentucky, who tie for second place at 10-1 odds. Kansas sits as a 12-1 favorite. Having new head coach Penny Hardaway, along with the No. 1 recruiting class in the nation, Memphis University skyrocketed up the list to gain a 12-1 shot as well.
