Toronto Maple Leafs Preseason Tickets Are Going for Absurd Prices
By Chris Russo

It is very gutsy to someone to charge this kind of money when their team hasn't won a Stanley Cup in over a half-century, or gotten out of the first round in over a decade.
The Toronto Maple Leafs, who, to be fair, will be a Stanley Cup contender this year, are getting insane resale value on their preseason (yes, preseason) tickets.
This is crazy: Last night, Leafs tickets for the pre-season game tonight in St. John's were going for $600 a piece. Today, not a ticket to be found on StubHub.

One thing to note: the Leafs are playing this game in St. John's, Newfoundland, the easternmost city in North America, and approximately 1,300 miles from Toronto.
However, $600 a ticket, even for most regular season games, is quite high. The Leafs will try to make their case for such high prices, as they boast a team highlighted by Auston Matthews, John Tavares and the recently re-signed Mitch Marner.
Now that that fiasco is finally over, the Leafs can finally try to prove their worth. This $600 ticket, even if its price is inflated by really NHL-hungry fans, is actually a representation of what people think this team can and will do.
We’re back.

It's an astonishing price, maybe even ludicrous, but, if they win, having a ticket to see the eventual champions will absolutely be worth it.
