Star movement in free agency has become one of the most entertaining aspects of the NBA calendar. So despite there being a 1-1 NBA Finals series, many fans and media are still focused on the future of Kawhi Leonard just as much as the present.
The latest buzz should bring about some optimism for Raptors fans. Radio host Michael Landsberg recently said on Toronto's TSN 1050 that Leonard has purchased property in the city.
While it could mean Leonard is simply making an investments befitting his multi-millionaire status, it certainly seems like he is willing to stay with Toronto at least a little longer. TrueHoop's David Thorpe was also on the show, and said that his sources believe that Leonard is likely to sign at least a short-term deal with the Raptors.
Leonard has been linked to several teams, including the Clippers and Lakers, and it's well known that he's enamored of the idea of playing in his native Southern California. However, given the Raptors' historic playoff run all the way to the NBA Finals, Leonard would be wrong not to consider staying and seeing how far this thing can go.
Raptors fans have been showering Kawhi with love since moment he arrived. The coaching staff has catered to his health during the regular season, limiting him to 60 games, and front office boss Masai Ujiri has proven to be a bold, skillful leader in assembling pieces around him. Toronto might not have been one of Kawhi's top choices in the beginning, but the experiences and relationships he has developed just might change his mind.
