Torrey Smith Defends Michael Vick Amid Pro Bowl Captaincy Controversy
By Ian Anderson
Michael Vick was recently announced as one of the captains for the NFL Pro Bowl this year and it is safe to say plenty of people weren't happy with the decision.
A petition with over 200,000 signatures has gone around asking for the NFL to remove him from this position, due to his scandal-filled NFL career and the blight of dogfighting on his tenure.
Former Baltimore Ravens and San Francisco 49ers receiver Torrey Smith gave his thoughts on the matter, defending Vick's rehabilitation in the process.
Smith believes that Vick has served his time and has turned over a new leaf, and many are with Smith on this one.
After all, that is why second chances exist. Vick has gotten his second chance and done very well with it, though his offenses were nearly unthinkable.
That being said, I do think that this was the wrong move by the NFL.
I don't think that Vick should be removed from this honorary captain spot, however, I'm not certain he should have been given the spot in the first place because of his past actions.
Whether or not the NFL actually decides to do something about this petition is another story.
