Trade Details Revealed for the Mets' Blockbuster Acquisition of Marcus Stroman
By Karl Rasmussen
Marcus Stroman is returning to his home state of New York, though it may not be where he expected to end up. The Jays' ace is now a member of the Mets, according to various reports, and now the details of that deal have been revealed.
The Mets paid a high price for Stroman, sending Anthony Kay and Simeon Woods Richardson to the Blue Jays.
The pair resembled two of the top pitching prospects in the Mets' farm system and were the No. 4 and No. 6 ranked prospects in the organization.
In return, the Mets landed Stroman, who was arguably the most sought after pitcher on the market. Brodie Van Wagenen came out of left field to make one of the most surprising moves of the deadline.
Kay is currently pitching at Triple-A Syracuse, though his stint with the team hasn't gone to plan. He was 1-3 across seven starts with a 6.61 ERA and just 26 strikeouts across 31.1 innings.
As for Woods-Richardson, he's currently at the Single-A level and owns a 4.25 ERA with 97 strikeouts across 78.1 frames and 20 starts.
