3 Trade Targets for the Los Angeles Lakers After the 2019-20 Season

In a span of one offseason, the Lakers built a championship-caliber squad by trading for Anthony Davis and signing role players like Danny Green and Dwight Howard to complement LeBron James. No matter how this season ends, general manager Rob Pelinka is going to look for ways to keep re-tooling the roster for the short and long-term in hopes of bossing the NBA in the years to come. With that in mind, here are three players LA should look to acquire via trade this summer.

3. SG Tim Hardaway Jr.

This season, THJ was averaging nearly 16 points per game on over 40% shooting from behind the arc. This kind of scoring production would contribute the additional punch -- and floor spacing -- needed offensively to support James and Davis to the max. With his contract expiring in 2021, LA doesn't have to break the bank to give things a go with him for one year.

2. PG/SG Dennis Schroder

Dennis Schroder was en route to Sixth Man of the Year contention for the 2019-20 campaign. Although OKC has found a way to make it work with three point guards in Schroder, Chris Paul and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, the German ball-handler could be looking to re-gain a starting role at the 1 again in the league. LA has a need at point guard, Schroder could fit the bill either on or off ball alongside LeBron.

1. PG/SG Jrue Holiday

This would mean making another deal with New Orleans, but Jrue Holiday is widely considered the most underrated player in the game. A two-way player that can guard multiple positions, get a bucket and shoot at a high clip is what LA is in the market for. The UCLA product can play on and off ball offensively and contain any opponent’s perimeter threat to take pressure off of Davis and James on both sides. Jrue makes the Lakers clear favorites for the NBA title, period.
