Trae Young is the Real MVP for Paying $1 Million Worth of Atlanta Residents' Medical Bills
By Michael Luciano
Atlanta Hawks star point guard Trae Young is already a star on the court, and he just became a philanthropic star off the court. Young donated $1 million to the non-profit organization RIP Medical Debt, which works to take care of unpaid medical bills for low-income families across the country.
Young acknowledged his massive donation on Twitter, punctuating his social media statement with #MakeADifference.
Young has become one of the game's most electric players this season, as he is averaging 28.9 points and 8.4 assists per game.
Tonight, although his Hawks fell to the Rockets, he matched James Harden stride for stride, as they became the first opponents in NBA history to both score 40-point triple-doubles in the same game.
Not too shabby for a 21-year-old.
While some NBA stars use the game as a launching pad towards securing generational wealth, some use their platform for more altruistic reasons, and Young's cancelling of student debt across Atlanta is more impactful than any jump shot he could ever make in his career.
