Travis Kelce Should Be Excited By George Kittle Contract Rumor

The San Francisco 49ers know where their bread is buttered on offense, and they will likely reward tight end George Kittle with a new contract to show what he means to the squad.

The starting point for Kittle's contract is between $12.5 million and $15 million, which would make him the highest-paid tight end in the league.

If $12.5 million is the starting point for Kittle, that has to make Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce a very happy man.

Kelce has a record five seasons of 1,000 yards receiving as a tight end, and he's recorded those numbers in five consecutive seasons. As the No. 1 receiving option on a Chiefs team that has put up record-setting numbers with Patrick Mahomes at the helm, his importance to this team can not be understated.

At just 30 years old, Kelce still has plenty of great football ahead of him.

The Chiefs might not have a ton of room on their books, and they'll be even more hard-pressed to find space for Kelce after the Mahomes deal, but Brett Veach has shown he is willing to do just about anything if it means that he can keep the core of this dynasty together for the long haul. Kelce should expect a fresh new contract after the Kittle deal. He has two years left on his contract before becoming a free agent, but expect the Chiefs to extend him before the price tag goes up even higher.
