Trent Williams Finally Reports to Redskins But Fails Physical Due to Helmet Discomfort

Trent Williams refused to play a game for the Washington Redskins for the longest time due to his opinion that the team mishandled a personal medical issue. At least, that was the justification we were all given.

The trade deadline has come and gone now, and Williams remains a Redskin, in affiliation only. It turns out that even though he has reported to the team facility, he's physically incapable of even suiting up.

Williams was progressing fine in his physical, but experienced severe discomfort when trying to put on his helmet, and thus failed the exam.

This obviously speaks to yet another serious medical issue with Williams, who made five Pro Bowls during his tenure in Washington. Is this all a ripple effect from the mistreated surgical procedure that caused him to sit out in the first place? What is actually going on here?

Williams was almost traded to the Cleveland Browns earlier this season, but talks fell apart at the last minute. Despite all of that, head coach Bill Callahan believes that Williams will play for this team, despite the fact Williams has said publicly that he won't.

It would take a mighty big story to top Albert Haynesworth being too overweight and out of shape to be capable of running a few short sprints for days at a time, but this is certainly coming close.
