Trevor Bauer Attended Indians Game as a Fan After Being Traded to Reds
By Scott Rogust
A large domino dropped on the MLB trade deadline front on Tuesday night. After having a viral outburst on Sunday against the Kansas City Royals, ace pitcher Trevor Bauer was sent to the Cincinnati Reds by the Cleveland Indians in a three-team trade including the San Diego Padres.
Many expected that Bauer would head down to Atlanta to meet with his new team ahead of their series against the Braves. Instead, Bauer was in attendance for Cleveland's game against the Houston Astros on Wednesday.
Many questioned just why on earth he would be in the stands of Progressive Field, considering he's no longer a member of the Indians organization.
Actually, Bauer held an impromptu news conference during Wednesday night's game, as he addressed his exit from Cleveland, the ball he threw over the center field wall of Kauffman Stadium, and his eventual arrival in Cincinnati.
In 24 games with the Indians this season, Bauer posted a 3.79 ERA, struck out 184 batters, walked a league high 63, all on a 9-8 record.
While Cincinnati's addition of Bauer confused many, it's important to note that the Reds are seven games back of the NL Central lead, as of Wednesday night. Trevor Bauer certainly carries the potential of giving the Reds an extra push towards a playoff berth.
