Cleveland Indians starter Trevor Bauer treated the fans in Kansas City to a demonstration of his famous pre-game long toss routine as he was about to be pulled following a rough outing against the Royals this weekend. As Terry Francona trotted out to the mound, Bauer chucked the ball over the center field fence.

That petulance has been punished with a small fine, but not with a suspension, per sources.

Bauer's ERA rose from 3.49 to 3.79 following his rough outing against the Royals in which he gave up eight runs (seven earned) in just 4.1 innings in an eventual 9-6 Cleveland loss.

Bauer did offer an apology for his behavior shortly thereafter, but this likely did little to quell the ambivalence surrounding him as a trade target. After it was once almost a certainty he would be dealt, the latest rumblings claim Bauer is likely staying put.

Part of that is the fact that the Indians keep winning, but the pullback could be due to some hesitation related to taking on Bauer and his behavior.

The Indians and league dealt with this in the best possible way. Don't let him get off scot free, but don't make it a bigger problem than it is.
