Trevor Bauer Takes Shot at Astros When Gearing up for Beer Pong Tournament With Mike Clevinger
By Michael Luciano
The Houston Astros have yet to face the music for their sign-stealing scandal on the field due to the coronavirus shutdown, but Cincinnati Reds starter Trevor Bauer is still managing to get swipes in on them at every possible opportunity.
Bauer took issue with what he perceived to be rules violations during a game of beer pong against Cleveland Indians starter Mike Clevinger and Atlanta Braves shortstop Dansby Swanson. Notably, Bauer claimed that by playing against the Astros in Houston and having to deal with their trash can banging, he knows how to overcome cheating.
Bauer's hatred for the Astros, even before their sign-stealing scandal was unearthed, was palpable, as he didn't exactly see eye to eye with shortstop Alex Bregman or former Astros starter Gerrit Cole.
When you throw this scandal into proceedings, it makes sense as to why the outspoken Bauer continues to needle the entire franchise.
Some have hypothesized that a lack of actual baseball games would blunt the seething hatred that all 29 other fanbases had towards the Astros. Unfortunately for them, the actions of a select few MLB players like Bauer that are still enraged at their blatant cheating will help keep those anti-Astros sentiments alive and well.
