Weeks after Clemson Tigers quarterback Trevor Lawrence was finally allowed to set up a fundraiser for COVID-19 relief following a confusing and aggravating standoff with the NCAA, the former national champion is going to have another opportunity to help the efforts to support those who truly need it in these dark time.

Texas Longhorns quarterback Sam Ehlinger has been reaching out to numerous college football stars to establish a GoFundMe page of his own for coronavirus relief, including Lawrence. He's reached out to SMU quarterback Shane Buechele for support as well.

This is incredibly encouraging stuff. They may be adversaries on the field, but seeing these young standouts coming together to do as much good as possible for those affected by the coronavirus is heartwarming.

Ehlinger has so far raised over $100,000, and his goal is 10 times that. It's no wonder either. College football is big business and has massive legions of fans, and at universities like Clemson and Texas, the passion is truly year-round. Lawrence and Ehlinger teaming up to raise money is a guaranteed win, and will hopefully inspire more high-profile players around the nation to do the same.

Ehlinger's GoFundMe will donate directly to 501(c)(3) non-profit organizations. He's the latest of a number of athletes who are using their platforms to help the people who need it, and he's earned our praise as a result.
